The equipment needed for this demonstration include rods and clamps as pictured below. Also needed are a spring scale, another rod clamp and a protractor to measure the force required to rotate the pendulum through an angle. Also, to obtain the mass, a scale or balance is required but not pictured. |

The pendulum is shown suspended here. Note that the pendulum is suspended quite close the the table top, with just enough space to attach a rod clamp. This facilitates measuring the angle mentioned above. |
