As a double cone moves up an set of inclined rails, its center of gravity lowers. Note that this demonstration works best on a level surface, and it may be necessary to get a board and shim one end to make the surface level enough to work. Also, the apparatus has been somewhat abused and doesn't work perfectly. Practice this one before doing it in front of students.
