Ball on a String

A ball with a light string and a knife are needed for this demonstration. A low mass ball is preferable, such as the styrofoam ball pictured. The knife on the end of a long handle makes the demonstration a little easier. If the string or thread is too light, the string may break prematurely. Doubling the string over will probably solve this problem.
