| Week
1 Monday: Complete
attitude survey, meet with faculty mentors,
introductory talks by PI’s and faculty on the REU program and major research areas, and radiation safety training. Tours of the IAC, other labs, and the ISU campus. Tuesday: Report to research areas where they will spend the rest of the week, except for two hours on Wednesday for a faculty lecture and a group lunch. Wednesday: Faculty lecture at 10:30 am followed by a group lunch provided by the Physics Dept. Students will be encouraged to discuss their work and experiences. Week 2 Monday - Thursday

spent in the respective research areas, except
for two hours on Wednesday for the faculty lecture and group lunch. Friday: Leave for a 3-day trip to Yellowstone National Park. Weeks 3 - 4 Monday - Friday:
research projects plus Wednesday lecture and lunch.
Week 5 Monday - Friday
noon:
research projects plus Wednesday lecture and lunch.
Friday afternoon: Short PowerPoint presentations by students on their research. Week 6 Monday - Friday
noon:
research projects plus Wednesday lecture and lunch.
Friday afternoon: Leave for camping and white water rafting trip. Weeks 7 - 9 Monday - Friday:

Week 10 Monday -
Thursday:
research projects plus Wednesday lecture and lunch.
Friday: Poster session presentations of student research. Exit interviews, attitude surveys, and program evaluations will also be given. |
