Program
Do you have surplus
usable
chemicals?
Do you want to see if
a chemical is available?
This website is
designed
for ISU departments seeking to reduce their stock of usable chemicals
and
those seeking chemicals that may be available on campus. The goals of the ChemSwap program are to minimize the
amount of chemical waste generated by the university, lower hazardous
waste
disposal costs, and save money that would otherwise be spent on
chemical
aquisition from vendors. The ChemSwap Program is an element of our
waste
minimization program.
How it works:

Usable chemicals that
are no
longer needed are entered on a list.

To aquire a chemical
from the
list, communicate directly with the point of contact to make
agreements/arrangements.

Please DO NOT
place any
chemical that you wish to ChemSwap in your Satellite Accumulation Area
(SAA) or label it as hazardous waste. Your SAA is for WASTE ONLY
and chemicals that can be ChemSwapped are NOT considered waste.

The chemical remains
property
of the originating department until it is transferred.

Charging for chemicals
that
you no longer need is not recommended, but this is up to the
parties involved.

DO NOT give any
chemical
to anyone not affiliated with the university without the proper
permission.

Transportation and
storage of
the chemical is up to the parties involved.
Please NOTE:
This site is a courtesy
of the TSO. We do not mediate the transfer of these chemicals and will
not get involved with any disputes. All agreements and arrangements are
made by the parties involved. When a chemical is no longer useful to
anyone,
it becomes waste. If the waste is hazardous, the TSO will deal
with
it according to our established procedures.

To
add a chemical you need to provide the following information (this is temporary until the form is built into
the
webpage):
chemical name/formula
expiration
date
amount
physical
state (including condition of the container)
point
of contact (including phone number and department)
ANY
other
information that may be of use to someone
We welcome chemicals of all types
into
this program...everything from paints and cleaners to research
chemicals!!
