Pulsed Power Options for Nuclear Fusion

Research into nuclear fusion has been focused either on near-DC magnetic confinement fusion (Tokamaks) or ns-timescale inertial-confinement laser fusion.  In this talk we first review the concepts of nuclear fusion, energy balance and physics issues, then describe both Tokamak fusion and laser fusion.  Finally, we will explore the possibility of other fusion concepts that are based on 100-ns-long pulsed power drivers.  Real world issues such as cost effectiveness will be included in the discussion.
