Total Solar Eclipse Studies From the Edge of Space

Dr. John E. Sohl
Weber State University
Department of Physics

The Weber State University's Physics Department's HARBOR team was funded by NASA to study possible changes in Earth's stratosphere during the 2017 total solar eclipse. We were also tasked with producing 4k, 4-pi steradian, video of the eclipse as viewed from the stratosphere. A full-dome video is being produced for distribution to planetaria worldwide and a VR video is being produced for private viewing. Results and how this was accomplished, with over ten flights to the stratosphere, will be discussed. Demos of the current status of the videos will be presented as well, possibly including VR demos.
