An Overview of the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE)

James Norris

In this talk I will give an overview of the DUNE experiment beginning with an overview of the experiment itself (the who, what, where, when, why and how of the experiment), followed by a overview of the physics of DUNE (the Standard Model, neutrino oscillations, neutrino mass hierarchy, supernova neutrinos and beyond the Standard model issues) and give an overview of the detectors (time projection chambers, the Near and Far Detectors and the two ProtoDUNEs).  If there’s time, I’ll treat the audience to a derivation of the two-neutrino oscillation probability formula—a great qualifying exam problem!
