Variable Star Hunting: Find Them, Tag Them, and Track Them

There are many new challenges in the field of variable star research.  Many of these challenges deal with fast pulsating variable stars like delta Scutis.  The field of asteroseismology is a growing field of study that can be used to probe past the photosphere of these stars and let us glimpse something of the internal structure. There is a lot of pulsational theory behind this field of study, but I want to focus on some of the observational aspects; 1) finding variable stars, particularly in clusters, 2) establishing fundamental parameters for stars which might be studied with an asteroseismology campaign, and 3) long term monitoring.
