Recipe for a Universe
Mike Hildreth
Department of Physics
University of Notre Dame
Dr. Hildreth will give an overview of the Large Hadron Collider project currently
being commissioned at CERN, in Geneva, Switzerland. He will discuss the
enormous machine and the particle detectors that are being readied for the
first collisions in 2009. The focus of his presentation will be on the prospects for physics
discoveries that could redefine our perspective on the Universe, such as
Supersymmetry, Dark Matter, or Extra Dimensions of Space-Time. Dr. Hildreth will
attempt to convey some of the excitement being felt across the globe as we
step into the unknown.
