There is perhaps no major scientific issue of our time
that has been as misrepresented in the public sphere as that of global climate
change. The current trend in global warming is a reality and almost
certainly anthropogenic in nature. Every scientific society whose members
are involved in climate research, including the National Academy of Sciences.
The American Meteorological Society, the American Geophysical Union and the
American Association for the Advancement of Science, NASA and NOAA have issued
statements concluding that the evidence for anthropogenic climate change
is overwhelming.
Although climate change is a complex issue, the basic
controls of climate are well understood. This presentation will cover
the basic controls of climate and the influences that humans have on the
current trend in global climate change.
