Some diagnostics exist to explore the reasoning skills possessed by our students reveal disturbing evidence about our students.  There is some history of these studies in physics courses by physicists.  Recently collected data will be shared looking at correlations with scores on finals and GPAs.  These raise questions about what the university is accomplishing with its students by the time of graduation.  Can we set a good example in physics courses?
