The notion of skill in games of chance will be discussed briefly. Once it is established that skill plays a major role in poker, ideas from game theory and probability can be used to characterize a general approach to both tournament and non-tournament poker (these are different games). A few common scenarios, which illustrate these ideas, will be presented.
