The Revenge of Pluto and Other Stories from the Outer Solar System

Dr. Ben Bromley

Pluto, after being demoted from planet-hood, struck back by revealing

itself within Hubble Space Telescope observations to have its own system
of 4 satellites in addition to its binary partner, Charon. We consider the
formation of these satellites and the lessons they offer for theories of
planet formation. We will also discuss other recent outer solar system
discoveries, including dwarf planet 2012 VP113, and "Peggy," a small moon
in Saturn's ring system.
